Plot:
Old Union Cemetey located in Section 9 of Tunbridge Township. It is about a mile off the road between farmers fields. This is the second oldest burial ground in the township, the first burial being made in 1831. The last burial in 1924. This was the site of the first Christian Church organized in 1833. For five years sermons, weddings and funerals were held outside midst the trees. In 1838 a log church was built and this was used until 1864 when a new building was erected at a cost of $3,000 with accomodations for 600 people. Originally it was on themain road from Springfield to Bloomington. Today the nearest road is about 1/2 mile and few people know of the location. All signes of the church which had over 1,000 member is gone, and the old cemetery where over 500 pionees were buried has less than 100 stones and there are many of those in poor condition, buried under soil, weathered and unreadable.
