This Privacy Statement describes PeopleLegacy’s information collection, use, and disclosure practices.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will always be showcased on this page. Your continued use of PeopleLegacy constitutes your agreement with the existing and updated policies.

Information Collected by PeopleLegacy

PeopleLegacy is a database of publicly available information sources aggregated for User convenience. Through PeopleLegacy, Users can access certain materials posted to or made available through the Website as compiled, distributed, and displayed by PeopleLegacy and other third-party content providers ("Third-Party Providers"). These materials that can be searched for and accessed through the Website (“PeopleLegacy”) include but are not limited to, third-party websites or services that provide information about individuals ("Search Subjects").

PeopleLegacy gathers three types of information: information that Users submit to us, User information that is collected automatically about Website usage, and information about Search Subjects.

Information You Submit to PeopleLegacy

We collect information that Users provide when they use the Website. This can include but is not limited to instances when a User submits an online application to become a PeopleLegacy member ("Member"), which enables the User to utilize a host of services made available to Members by and through the Website ("Member Services"); when a User submits a request to opt out of PeopleLegacy’s People Search results; when a User submits a request for a Memorial Change to PeopleLegacy’s People Search results; when a User conducts a PeopleLegacy Search; or when a User contacts PeopleLegacy with a question, comment, or request. This can include, but is not limited to, the User’s (a) e-mail address; (b) full name; (c) company name; (d) date of birth; (e) password; (f) mailing address; (g) credit card information; and (h) information associated with a Search Subject (such as a name, age, or address) that Users utilize to conduct a PeopleLegacy Search.

Information Collected Automatically About Your Website Usage

Similar to most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data. We may combine this automatically collected log information with other User data we have collected. We do this to improve the services we offer Users, as well as to enhance marketing, analytics, or site functionality.

When a User visits the Website, PeopleLegacy or third-party service providers may use "Cookies" (small, text-only files that we save to a User’s hard drive) or similar technologies to automatically collect and store non-personally-identifiable information about a User' usage of the Website, such as a User'a IP address, browser type, links and items they click on, ad impressions on their web browser, and the web pages they visit. Cookies enhance User experience on the Website and are necessary for the provision of Member Services. For example, we use Cookies to store User passwords so that Users do not have to re-enter them multiple times, as well as to recognize a User if they revisit the Website using the same web browser.

If a User does not want the Website to collect this information through Cookies, they may configure their web browser to reject Website Cookies or to inform the User when a Cookie has been sent to their computer, providing them with the opportunity to refuse that Cookie. Each web browser is different, so please check the browser's "Help" menu to learn how to change User Cookie preferences. Be advised that Users who disable or reject Cookies may not be able to use the Member Services or experience the full Website functionality.

PeopleLegacy and its partners (involved in marketing, data, analytics, financial, testing, optimization, and so on), affiliates, analytics, or service providers (such as data providers, customer support, marketing, analytics, business development, affiliate, and other) use cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts. These technologies are implemented in analyzing trends, administering the Website, tracking User movements around the Website, and gathering demographic information about the PeopleLegacy User base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by affiliated companies on an individual or aggregated basis.

Behavioral Targeting / Re-Targeting

We partner with a third-party ad network to either display advertisements on the PeopleLegacy Website or to manage advertising materials on other sites. PeopleLegacy ad network partners use cookies and Web beacons to collect non-personal information about User activities on this and other websites to provide targeted advertising based on User interests. If a User wishes not to have this information used for the purpose of serving targeted ads, they may opt out by clicking here. Please note that this does not mean that the User will not be seeing ads altogether. Instead, they will be generic rather than targeted.

Information About Search Subjects

In order to facilitate the PeopleLegacy Search function, we collect information about Search Subjects from third-party data providers.

When a User submits a request to opt out of PeopleLegacy's People Search results, we require the User to provide an email address. PeopleLegacy will only use this email address to (i) send the User an email to verify the User’s request to opt out, (ii) communicate with the User regarding the questions they may ask about their opt-out status, and (iii) if the User chooses, to create a PeopleLegacy Opt-Out account to review the record(s) the User has opted out from on an ongoing basis. PeopleLegacy uses data about Search Subjects to provide responses to PeopleLegacy Searches performed through the Website.

  • In connection with facilitating the PeopleLegacy Search function, with certain third-party companies (such as data partners) for the sole and exclusive purpose of verifying information applicable to the particular Search Subject. These third-party companies shall be subject to an obligation of confidentiality regarding such information and shall not store, save, or transfer such information in instances other than when it is necessary to perform applicable verification services. • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Users or others (e.g., by exchanging data with other companies and organizations for fraud protection purposes, by providing information to law enforcement entities when we believe the Website is being or has been used to commit unlawful acts).

We do not share precise geolocation information (such as that collected from User mobile devices) with third parties unless the User expressly consents to it.

In addition, we may share aggregate reports with third parties, comprised of the demographics, usage, and/or other characteristics of PeopleLegacy Visitors as a group, which will never identify any User personally.

Correcting, Updating, or Removing Member Information

If the information a User submits to PeopleLegacy changes, or if the User no longer needs PeopleLegacy services, they may correct, update, or request deletion of this information by making changes on the member information page or by contacting PeopleLegacy using the contact information provided below.

Data Retention

We will retain the information that we have collected about a User until they request its deletion. If a User wishes to cancel a User Member account or PeopleLegacy Opt-Out account or wants to request that we no longer utilize User information to provide the User with services, they need to send an email to [email protected]. However, we may retain some or all of User information after the User requests deletion or cancellation, as necessary, to comply with PeopleLegacy’s legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce PeopleLegacy’s active Agreements.

Changes to the PeopleLegacy Privacy Policy

PeopleLegacy may amend or modify this Privacy Policy, in whole or in part, from time to time in its sole discretion, effective immediately upon prominently posting a link to those changes on the PeopleLegacy Website's homepage or directly communicating them to Users. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify Users here, at the e-mail addresses associated with the User Member or PeopleLegacy Opt-Out accounts, or by means of a notice on the PeopleLegacy homepage prior to the change becoming effective. The User’s continued use of or access to the Website or any Member Services after any posted amendment or revision to this Privacy Policy or receipt of a Privacy Policy change notification email constitutes an affirmative acknowledgment and acceptance of the amended or modified Privacy Policy.

Security

We aim to keep all information that we collect from or about Users protected both online and offline. Unfortunately, no data security system or transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect Users’ personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted to us, which is why Users do it at their own risk.

Marketing Opt-Out

Users receiving marketing emails sent by PeopleLegacy or third-party advertisers may unsubscribe from such communications at any time by following the instructions specified at the end of each e-mail. We may have separate email lists for different purposes, so Users may need to unsubscribe from multiple lists. However, even when a User unsubscribes from all PeopleLegacy and third-party advertisers' lists, they may receive marketing emails in the future if they opt into a different email marketing program. However, a User can also always unsubscribe from such programs by following the instructions specified at the end of any e-mail they receive.

A User also may, at any time, notify PeopleLegacy that they do not wish to have PeopleLegacy disclose User information to third parties for the purposes of sending marketing offers and promotions by visiting www.PeopleLegacy.com.
