Mrs. Genevieve Courtney, age 85, of Widener, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Forrest City.Mrs. Courtney was born July 1, 1916, in St. Francis County, the daughter of Lee Lesmore Melton and Mattie Leslie Melton. She was a housewife and a member of the Widener Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Courtney, in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Rodney Courtney, in 1967. She is survived by three sons, Wayne Courtney of Forrest City, Dale Courtney and David Courtney, both of Widener; a sister, Lucille South of Conway; a brother, Eugene Melton of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.Visitation for Mrs. Courtney will be at Stevens Funeral Home Monday, May 13, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
