Dr John Sprague Died 1825

Born Dr John Sprague passed away on Sep 20, 1825and was buried in Greendale Cemetery in Meadville, PA.

Death:
Sep 20, 1825
Plot:
Dr. John Sprague's headstone is located in a central section of Greendale Cemetery. Here lie the occupants of the Old Meadville Cemetery which was located at the present day corner of Randolph Street and Park Avenue. The occupants were disinterred from the Old Meadville Cemetery and moved here on March 11, 1852. Greendale has no record of those reinterred in this area or of any other pre 1853 deaths found in the cemetery. The occupants of the central section were reburied in a mass grave with the existing gravestones also being moved and reset. The headstones are in two conspicuously straight rows of closely set stones. It is likely some of the gravestones no longer exist and that some of the occupants never had any kind of permanent headstone in the original cemetery. Other headstones dated prior to 1852 can be found in different areas of Greendale. These may be the Old Meadville Cemetery headstones of those reinterred by family to family lots in Greendale, or they may have been erected at some point later after reinternment in the Greendale family lot.
